Masters Message March 2015

My Brothers,

We have a busy degree month in March. The first section of the Master Mason degree will be held on Wednesday the 18th and the second and third on Saturday the 21st. Our class of nine Fellow Craft have done a fine job with their work and I have no doubt that it will continue. I encourage all Brothers to make every effort to attend both communications to support not only our candidates but the officers who are putting on a great degree. We are very fortunate to have a large class of candidates each year. We already have six awaiting the fall class. Attracting new Masons is one thing, but retaining them is quite another. We all need to engage our new Brothers by inviting them to activities, asking that they join us at dinner, going out of our way to greet them. If you see a new face sitting alone at lodge, please join him. In the past, the officers have gently steered a new Brother to a committee to not only keep him interested, but encourage a deeper Masonic experience. We look to the new Master Masons to work with the upcoming class of candidates. It’s still fresh in their minds and engages them. Planting roots need to be done early or the plant doesn’t grow.

Our trip to Euclid Lodge No. 136 in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey will be on April 4th. We usually meet at their Lodge building but this year W∴Torres has planned a special day. We will go directly to the Trenton Masonic Temple, 100 Barrack Street, Trenton, NJ 08608 for the program. I mentioned in an earlier message that Most Worshipful Wyman P. Hallstrom, III , our Grand Master will be joining us but I have since been informed that Most Worshipful Gerald J Sharpe, Grand Master of Masons of the State of New Jersey will also be joining us. It promises to be a great day of fellowship for the Craft. I need a definite count of interested Brothers by our communication on March 18th. Please fill out the form elsewhere in this communication and get it to me with $25.00 either by mail or at the meeting.

The Grand Master’s Testimonial Dinner in honor of Most Worshipful Wyman P. Hallstrom, III will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Quonset O Club, 200 Lt. James Brown Road, North Kingston RI 02852 with a social hour starting at 6:00 PM. It is jointly hosted by Roger Williams No. 32 & St. Johns No. 1 Providence. See me for tickets which are $35.00. Make checks payable to Roger Williams Lodge No. 32.

In cooperation with the Rainbow Girls of Warwick Assembly No.15 (which St. Johns Lodge proudly sponsors), we have planned a “Fun Degree” for our May meeting. Its a degree presented by the young ladies to create Honorary Rainbow Girls. Many of your Brothers were created as such by the Assemblies though out the state including many Past Grand Masters as well as Grand Lodge officers. During W∴ Williamson’s year in the East, several of his officers were created Rainbow Girls . (I’m now known as Beatrice). The girls enjoy this degree because its a way of giving back. It’s a fun time, a chance to show our support of the Assembly and you get an official Honorary Rainbow Girl membership card with your new name. I have a special wallet just for my membership cards. Its divided into sections, the first section is for my most important cards; St Johns, Shrine, Scottish Rite and Honorary Rainbow Girl. I’m very proud of it. Ask me, I’ll show you. If you are interested in joining a growing number of your Brothers (at no cost to you), let me know. I can be reached at: This email address is being protected from spambots. Yours in the Craft,
Robert O’Brien
Worshipful Master
