Masters Message September 2022

Hello My Brothers,

I sincerely hope everybody has enjoyed the past couple of months. It certainly has been a hot and dry summer. I also hope everyone stayed healthy and hydrated. From what I hear, many took the time to relax, be with their families, and even take some small vacations.

As with everything these days, it went by too fast. However, it means that we get back to the lodge that much quicker to be with each other, share stories, and enjoy the camaraderie. We had two fantastic and well-attended events over the summer months. The first one is our annual St. John’s 1P Steak Fry at the East Greenwich Yacht Club.

We had 103 brothers in attendance! It was great to see everyone, especially the brothers that we do not get to see that often because they live out of state; many being Past Masters. I took the opportunity to sit with some of them while enjoying our meal, shared stories, and some laughs, and received some of their input and wisdom. The food, drinks, cigars, and fellowship were wonderful. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you who made that day a success. It’s a lot of work, and it came together perfectly. Thank you!

Our second event was our Annual Family Picnic at Buttonwoods. It was a hot one, but thank God for the beautiful breeze off the water. This was another great event that was enjoyed immensely by all. The food and family time was top-notch as always. Again, I’d like to thank everyone involved in making this happen flawlessly, it truly takes a team, it doesn’t get any better!

During these months my officers and I have been in contact and planning. Starting in September we will be holding our rehearsals and our first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21 at 6 pm. We will be opening, conducting business, and perhaps we will share a few stories as to how our summer went. We will go to refreshment immediately thereafter to enjoy dinner, then we will return at approximately 7:30 pm to invite our guest speakers which will be representatives from the Warwick Animal Shelter. We will welcome Director of Operations Anna Paliotta and President of “Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter” Judy Salvadore. This will kick off our theme for the year, which will be animal welfare. It is sure to be interesting to see how we could get more involved. You will feel the love and kindness in your heart.

If you plan on attending dinner, reservations are a must.

Lastly, I’d like to remind everyone again to please keep that vigilant eye open for any animal in need or distress. Thank you!

Hope to see everybody at September’s meeting. Stay safe!
